Gondola cover diagram – how to get the right dimensions

Making a grain trailer cover (gondola) starts with one of the most important things – the exact dimensions. Even when two trailers look the same, the location of the fittings, the height of the basket and the individual sections can differ.

That's why at Pokrivala.BG we use a special scheme for ordering a gondola cover , through which the client can clearly provide us with the necessary information about the production.

The attached diagram can be used both when ordering a new cover and when an existing one needs to be replaced.

What is the scheme?

The diagram shows the unfolded view of the cover and the places where the dimensions should be marked. The customer does not need to prepare a technical drawing himself - it is enough to measure the gondola and fill in the relevant dimensions on the diagram provided.

See the diagram in the gallery below.

In addition to the dimensions, the top part contains the basic information about the order: name and contact phone number, shipping address, preferred color and selected weight of the tarpaulin.

Important: dimensions must be taken from the specific gondola for which the cover will be made. We do not recommend using dimensions from another trailer just because it is the same model.

Main dimensions of the cover

The diagram clearly shows the length and width of the basket . They define the basic geometry of the cover, but are not sufficient on their own.

It is also necessary to specify the dimensions of the falling parts of the cover - for example, the fall on the longitudinal side and the fall towards the pipe . The height of the rear cover is also noted, as well as the position of the fittings relative to the edges of the basket.

These dimensions are particularly important because they determine how the cover will lie on the structure and where the points for its attachment will be.

Distances between vertical sections

One of the most important elements in the scheme are the individual vertical sections along the length of the gondola.

They should not automatically be assumed to be the same . Measure each distance separately and plot it on the corresponding arrow in the diagram.

This allows us to tailor the cover to the actual construction of the specific gondola, rather than an approximate or nominal geometry.

Medium pocket

The diagram has the option to indicate the presence of a middle pocket .

Mark "Yes" or "No" according to the required configuration. If the design or method of use of the cover requires additional features of the pocket, it is a good idea to describe them in the request.

Fittings and their location

The diagram allows you to specify whether there should be fittings on the relevant parts of the cover.

When using fittings, two sizes are particularly important:

the distance from the edge to the first fitting and the distance between the individual fittings .

These parameters should not be determined approximately. Their correct setting is important for matching the existing attachment points and for the uniform tension of the finished cover.

For the side parts, the scheme also allows the height of the hardware from the edge of the basket to be set.

Back cover and drop to the pipe

At the rear, the height of the rear cover must be measured. The diagram also shows the necessary dimensions for the material to fall to the edge of the bin.

On the other side , the fall towards the pipe is set, which is necessary for the proper formation and functioning of the cover.

When measuring, follow the specific arrows on the diagram – they indicate between which points each size should be taken.

Material selection

The scheme provides a choice between PVC tarpaulin with different weights, for example 700 g/m² or 900 g/m² , as well as a choice of color.

The appropriate material depends on the use, the dimensions of the cover and the requirements for its strength. When ordering, we can discuss which option is suitable for the specific gondola.

How to send us the dimensions?

The easiest option is to print out the diagram , mark all dimensions clearly, and take a photo or scan it. You can also fill it out electronically.

Before sending, double-check that all necessary dimensions are included and that the units of measurement are clearly stated. It is a good practice to add several photos of the gondola itself to the diagram, especially the attachment points, the rear cover, and any structural features that may affect the cover.

The correct scheme is the basis of the correct cover

For custom-made gondola covers, taking the correct measurements is an essential part of the order. A detailed diagram reduces the risk of misunderstandings and gives us the necessary information to tailor the product to the specific trailer.

Measure the specific gondola, fill in the diagram and send it to us along with photos of the trailer. Based on this, we can specify the configuration and manufacture of the new cover.
