Railway wagon covers

Railway wagon covers are designed to protect cargo during transport and outdoor storage. They are manufactured to the specific dimensions and construction of the wagon, and can be made as a straight cover for only the upper part , or as a complete cover covering the cargo and the sides of the wagon.

For production, we use synthetic tarpaulin with increased resistance to tearing and tearing , suitable for harsh operating conditions, weather conditions, vibrations and prolonged loading during rail transport.

Manufactured according to the wagon design

Each wagon and each load places different demands on the cover. Therefore, the production is carried out individually according to:

• the dimensions of the wagon;

• the method of covering;

• the required depth of the falling sides;

• the attachment points;

• the type and size of the fittings;

• areas with increased mechanical stress;

• labelling and identification requirements.

This allows the cover to be properly stretched, securely fixed and stable during movement.

Reinforced hardware on the periphery

Metal rings with sizes Ø16, Ø20 or Ø40 are installed along the periphery of the cover, depending on the method of attachment and the client's requirements.

Each section where the fittings are placed is additionally reinforced with a double layer of tarpaulin . This way, the load is not concentrated directly on the base material and the risk of tearing around the rings is significantly reduced.

If necessary, additional reinforcements can be implemented in other critical areas.

Reinforcement in the areas of contact with the wagon

In rail transport, the cover may come into contact with edges, metal profiles and other structural elements of the wagon. Prolonged friction in these areas is one of the main causes of premature wear.

Therefore, if necessary, the contact areas are made with additional tarpaulin reinforcement . This increases the abrasion resistance and extends the service life of the cover.

Straight cover for the top

This option is intended for wagons that need to be closed mainly at the top.

The cover rests on the upper opening of the wagon and has a falling periphery on which the fastening hardware is placed.

The fixing can be done with a suitable system of elastic bands, ropes or other elements according to the construction of the wagon. The aim is to keep the cover well stretched and stable during transport.

This type of cover is suitable when the walls of the wagon alone provide sufficient protection, and only the top opening needs to be closed.

Complete wagon cover

If necessary, we also produce covers that cover a significantly larger part of the wagon or cargo.

They can cover:

• the upper part;

• both sides;

• the frontal parts;

• the entire cargo volume according to the design.

This option provides a higher degree of protection for loads that need to be insulated from the weather along their entire height.

Strong fixation

Fastening is an essential part of the reliability of the cover.

Depending on the wagon and requirements, different tensioning and fixing systems can be used. In the elastic cord versions, the elastic passes through the rings on the cover and is attached to specific points on the wagon.

This way it is achieved:

• constant tension on the cover;

• better stretching;

• reduction of free movement of material;

• more stable behavior in the event of vibrations and air currents.

Inscriptions and identification

If necessary, the following can be placed on the covers:

• company names;

• logos;

• numbers;

• inventory markings;

• identification codes;

• other texts at the client's request.

This is especially convenient with a large number of covers used in railway compositions or by different operators.

For harsh operating conditions

Railway transport places serious demands on covers. During operation, they are subjected to:

• strong air loads;

• constant vibrations;

• prolonged stretching;

• friction in metal parts;

• sun, rain, snow and temperature changes;

• repeated assembly and disassembly.
